[ He actually seems surprised by that. Sure, Naruhodou made him a scarf, but a scarf was completely different from these. ]

Yea! There's a craft room at the Jade Bathhouse and Kanji-kun has been teaching me there. He's really good at making a lot of things. [Oh, almost got it that time, Wagahai.] There were a bunch more I was practicing with, but I managed to give most of them away.

I wasn't aware that you'd been learning how to make things like this.

[ He steps over, sitting down next to Naruhodou on the floor. Leaning back on his hands, he watches Wagahai bat at the toy. ] That would explain it, then.

Oh- [He glances over to him when he settles down beside him. Wagahai pounces onto the turtle cat while Naruhodou is distracted.] ...um, that's not a problem, is it? [Why does it feel like he's in trouble?]

Why would you be in trouble? I was just wondering where they were all coming from.

[ He lifts a hand to wave it dismissively. ]

Ah, well. . .I was expecting you to complain about bringing home stuff again. [He lifts the string to try and tug the turtle cat back from Wagahai.]

You made it.

[ And he shrugs his shoulders, like that explains everything.

He is absolutely keeping the one he picked up off the stairs. ]

[oh...that makes him smile a little.] Iris-chan would make these cute charms back home, so I thought I tried to make them here in my spare time. Although, they're still no where near as good as hers. [Asougi probably would have noticed a couple of them were misshapen.]

[ He did, yes, but he also knows less about crafts and more about swords and posture and things like that, so he'll save his pointed critiques for Naruhodou's next performance. Naruhodou's been cooking more anyway and baking things, so the charms aren't really too much of a surprise either, in retrospect. He considers the one that Naruhodou dangles for Wagahai idly. ]

Well, it's like anything else, isn't it? Practice makes perfect.

Mm. [He nods.] Maybe when I get better, I'll make a cat with a headband for you. [He's not being serious and mostly joking.]

A what?

[ He tilts his head to the side, because what is a mascot, Naruhodou. ]

[ryuwrighthistory]

A cat, wearing a red headband. [He puts his free hand under his chin.] You sort of come off like a cat person to me.

A cat, huh . . .

[ He considers that. ] . . . But I've never had a cat before.

[ryuwrighthistory]

What are you talking about? [He picks up Wagahai and presents it to Asougi.] Of course you own a cat. [Incoming cat paw.]

Well— she's more yours and Holmes's . . .

[ But he reaches over to shake her paw gently. ]

[ryuwrighthistory]

Since you're staying with us, then she belongs to me, Holmes and you. [That's not how it works, but he's trying to be funny ok.] Besides, you've been taking care of her too right? So you know how cats are.

[exchangeable]

[ He's staying with them, yes, but feeling like he belongs is another thing entirely. But he's getting there, little by little, even as their junk accumulates all over again. Asougi shifts his hand, moving to scritch Wagahai behind her ears. ]

Are you saying I'm like a cat, Naruhodou?

[ryuwrighthistory]

[Oh scritches. Wagahai leans into that and starts purring.] Yea. You like doing your own thing with little regard for anyone else, you aren't afraid to express what you want, and you're stubborn. [These are all good traits, yep.]

It was a simple yes or no question, Naruhodou. You didn't have to elaborate.

[ He rubs at his head with his free hand. ]

Oh- [Oops. He puts down Wagahai who proceeds to smack the now abandoned turtle cat with her paw for a bit.] R-Right. Sorry. [. . .He's trying not to look too amused.] Would you rather I choose another animal for you..?

Let's focus on ourselves as people for now, alright? [ Asougi shakes his head. ]

Mmm, but making people is harder... [Not the point Naruhodou. He leans back, hands on the ground to support himself.]

Well anyway, I'll try to keep them in one place. Wagahai just likes to play with them and move them around. [That's half true. Other times Naruhodou just leaves them and forgets about them.]

Don't go blaming Wagahai for all of that.

[ But he's not actually scolding him or anything, at least, just idly calling him out. He reaches over to grab the string for the toy and lift it for Wagahai to bat at again. ]

[Pout face go.] Well I mean, she'll just move them, so why bother putting them away? [He's bad at keeping up a lie.]

You don't know that, Naruhodou. And don't blame the cat for your mess, she's innocent.

[ He smiles though. ]
