[ The weather hasn't been too great around Verens for the past few days and yet, Asougi had gone out and about to do whatever tasks and odd jobs he could, generally keeping busy as he tends to do these days. So busy, in fact, that he doesn't quite realize just how tired he is until he slows down, pausing here and there to wipe at his brow. It's later in the day when he makes it back to the Bakerstreet flat, sitting on one of the couches once he's removed his boots and everything, and throws an arm over his face, covering his eyes to rest for just a bit. ]

[Wagahai is the first to come and greet Asougi when he settles on the couch. She could tell that something wasn't up and presses her body against him, purring. There are sounds coming from the kitchen, Naruhodou likely preparing dinner. When he heard the front door though, he'll appear in the living area, one baby chocobo on his head and a tray with tea in his hands.]

Ah, welcome home. Are you finished for today? [He hasn't noticed anything was wrong just yet.]

[ He draws his other hand over to rest it on Wagahai's head, scritching behind her ears idly, and murmurs as Naruhodou addresses him. ]

Mm, for today.

[He puts the tray down on the table. Shiro perks up in Asougi's direction while Naruhodou is busy pouring out the tea.]

For just a day, you sound terrible. You overdid it again, didn't you? [He meant it to be a light jab, but he really did sound more tired than usual.]

I'm fine. I just needed to sit down for a little bit.

[ But there is something sluggish about him, and his demeanor in general. ]

. . .[Shiro makes a warbling noise, something she normally did when scared. Well Wagahai was there, but...he picks up the teacup meant for Asougi, turning around to face him. He...really didn't look like himself.] Are you sure? [As he settles down beside him, he could feel this discomforting warmth. Immediately he raise his free hand to rest it on Asougi's forehead, panic slowly settling in.]

You're burning up-- [He puts the tea back on the table and stands up, taking both his hands.] You need to go lay down in a bed.

I'm fine—

[ Even though he's protesting, he's not pushing back against him, letting him take his hands. Sure, he felt a little warm, but he'd be fine after some rest. ]

You're not fine! [There's worry in his voice, trying to keep back the panic. He's sure he'll bounce back, but considering various things that had the occurred before, he's not going to take any chances.] Come on, off the couch. [He tugs at him to get up.]

[ He lets himself be pulled up, letting out a tired sigh. ]

Alright, alright . . . you worry too much . . .

And you don't know when to take breaks. [He gives him a look. You're in no position to complain. He lifts one of Asougi's arms and puts it around his shoulders for better support. Wagahai hops off the couch and follows along after them.]

You can barely stand up on your own.

I'm fine . . . after a bit of rest, I would have been able to.

[ Debateable at best. He leans in against Naruhodou, at least. ]

You're going to need more than just "a bit of rest". [Is he ready for mother hen Naruhodou? No? Too bad.] Careful with the steps. [They're making a steady climb up the stairs now.] What were you even doing today?

Deliveries around town, nothing taxing.

[ Except for when one is getting sick, apparently. He manages to make it up the stairs with Naruhodou's help. ]

In this weather? [It wasn't raining right now, but definitely still cloudy and full of gloom. He directs him to his room and carefully helps Asougi onto the bed, at least seat him on it.] I'm going to go prepare a special tea and get a washcloth, all right?

It's not that bad outside . . .

[ But he nods, staying seated where he is. ]

[Shiro will hop off Naruhodou's head and settle herself down beside Asougi, nuzzling him. Naruhodou will leave them together, making sure Wagahai hadn't snuck in before closing the door.

He's soon back down on the first floor, setting aside dinner plans to get some ginger tea with honey prepared. He'll probably have to make a soup for him too, find some medicine-- has he taken a warm shower yet? He shakes his head, worry about them one at a time. He'll be back up in Asougi's room a few minutes later.]

[ While Naruhodou has been preparing all of that, Asougi slowly lowers himself down to lay back on the bed, accepting Shiro's warm bird nuzzles as he reaches over to pet at her head slowly. ]

[He may notice Shiro suddenly start to glow faintly. She may still be just a hatchling, but she was still trying to cast her healing magic. It doesn't work, but at least the light was warm, comforting.

Naruhodou looks momentarily surprised by that, but then shakes his head, pulling up a chair to sit down at his bedside.] Can you sit up for a bit?

I thought you wanted me to lay down.

[ But he does sit up slowly at that. ]

Well--yes, after you drink this. [Don't be smart with him. He offers him a cup of tea. It's pretty strong and tastes heavily of ginger.]

[ He takes it from him and sips, making a face briefly before taking a few more sips, drinking it quietly. ]

[He watches him, making sure he downs that tea. Maybe a little too hard.]

[ Asougi glances up at him over the cup, then murmurs. ]

You don't have to stare like that.

[He blinks. Was he staring? He looks down at Shiro instead, who has settled on Asougi's lap.] ...I'll have something prepared for you after some rest. You'll need to eat something too.

Mm. [ He pauses, taking another sip. ] . . . I'll be fine, Naruhodou.
