[In a fit of surprise and maybe some disgust, Maya drops the canister from her hands and to the ground, and it crashes with a clang and spills its contents all over the floor. Charley, who had been watching from the entrance to the kitchen, waddles over to start sniffing at it.]
Are you saying we drank tobacco? Who keeps that stuff stashed with their tea!?
I-It wasn't me! [Naruhodou is quick one his feet to shoo Charley away from the tobacco before he decides it's food.]
I know for certainty that wasn't there the last time I looked! [He's looking for a broom or something to sweep up the tobacco, all the while making frustrated noises.] Maybe that's why I could never find his stash, he keeps moving it around.
[He looks to Maya with a guilty expression. Yea, definitely hasn't but he has a reason!!]
Have you seen Holmes-san when he's actually depressed? I could never bring myself to tell him to stop when looks so miserable. At least it's not, all the time? [That makes it ok, right?]
Can't say that I have. Mr. Holmes doesn't seem like the kind of person who would.
[Guess everyone is full of surprises! Even the Great Sherlock Holmes!]
Still, shouldn't he be keeping things like this in his study? Seems like the least likely place anyone would go snooping. Especially a certain attorney.
Well, a great day to die is better than a bad day to die...
[She kind of agrees with that sentiment, although it is rather bleak. She just tries to keep a positive outlook on things!!! Maya reaches out to swat Naruhodou's hands back down to his sides.]
Just keep it out of your tea cupboard for next time. It's hard to tell the difference. Except next time I come over, I'll bring some of that special tea with me -- the ones that taste like chocolate.
[There's a good boy, Naruhodou. She is patting him on the head in her own head right now. Her smile is quick to fade though, her expression turning sheepish and her cheeks reddening a little.]
Oh, um. Speaking of next time...
[She pauses, not really sure how to ask so she kneels down to scoop up some of the tobacco on the floor before standing upright again.]
I, um... I was wondering. Would it be alright if I stayed over once in a while?
[Something about the hug has all of those emotions rising up in her again. She leans into it, her arms wrapping around Naruhodou and fingers balling his shirt into tight fists against his back. This isn't the first time she's lost someone close to her here. Trucy, Rei, and now Phoenix. How much longer until she loses Naruhodou, too?
The thought alone is enough to chase away her smile and break her down into a fit of tears and sobs, these ones more violent than the ones she'd shown him earlier.]
[She continues to sob, squeezing back as if he'll disappear too if she lets go, and it's a little while longer before her muffled voice speaks up from against his chest.]
It's okay. [She makes a noise that's a cross between a fond laugh and a sniffle.] You have nothing to be sorry for, you big dummy. I'm the one crying all over you.
Y-Yea...I know. I just- [For a moment, he considered switching places with Wright, but he just bites his bottom lip. Saying that to Maya, may not give the intended response.] ...I wish there was more I could do.
[She pulls back to look up at him through the tears welling up in her eyes, and she smiles, wiping her face with the back of her hand.]
Just keep making the best of your time here. With me and all of your other friends. [There's a gentle laugh between her sniffles.] And make sure to keep Mr. Holmes' tobacco away from the tea for next time I come over.

[As she asks him in a scolding tone, all while shoving the giant wyvern away from the pile with her foot.]

[Maya shoots him a pointed stare.]

[At her pointed stare, he just raise his hands, feigning innocence.] W-What's that look for? I don't know what Holmes is thinking most of the time.
